Sometime in year 2000, I threw the idea of visiting Keoladeo Ghana National Park, Bharatpur (Rajasthan, India), to a few friends in New Delhi. Though I forgot about it soonafter, they did not and one winter morning, came to pick me up for an outing to Bharatpur! I was quite reluctant to go but since it was my idea in the first place, I had to join them and off we went to Bharatpur. We thoroughly enjoyed our short trip to the park and came back to Delhi the next day. It was only a week later that I, while walking in Deer Park in Delhi, realised that I had developed an interest in birds thanks to the Bharatpur trip! What unfolded in the next year or so was perhaps the most exciting time of my life when I discovered all the common bird species around me and learnt the basics of birding. In 2001 I joined the Delhi Bird Club which helped me a great deal in learning the nuances of birding.

Eight years later, I see the trip to KGNP Bharatpur as one of the most significant outings of my life. Birds changed my life and made it much-much richer, added many different dimensions to it that not only affected me personally and professionally, but went on to and continue to enrich the life of many of my friends and relatives! Moreover, I discovered a very active Indian birding circuit and made many new friends!

Birds never fail to entertain me, even with their simplest antics! I enjoy watching even the commonest birds though I wouldn’t mind a rarity now and then! This blog is my little tribute to birds; it is also an effort to systematically organise whatever little bird-related data that I can collect.

As for me, I am a freelance graphic designer, graphic illustrator and fine art photographer. I live and work out of the cities of New Delhi and Jaipur, India and often consider myself lucky to be living in India, a country that can boast of some amazing birdlife.

Anyhow, I hope you will enjoy going through this blog!
